THE STATE OF MY TBR: READING IN BED, ETC.

boudoir-in-november-1

My favorite thing about evenings is coming into my cozy bedroom—some might say cluttered, but those people won’t be visiting in this space!—and gathering books around me.  And the remote control, as I also watch TV or DVDs here.  Sometimes I even bring in my laptop and watch Netflix or Amazon Prime videos.

It is tempting to stay up all night, reading or watching something, but eventually, I have to give in to sleep.  And I love it, once I’ve gone there, but falling asleep is sometimes a challenge.

Probably because I’ve been reading thrillers or watching the same on TV or Netflix.

A cup of tea helps, occasionally.

The good news, however, is that I have now read 78 books for the Read the Books You Buy Challenge, which includes books purchased from June 2015 on.

I know, I should BUY LESS AND READ MORE!

What does your year show you so far?  Do you like reading in bed?

  1. Wow! I’m impressed! That’s a lot of books to have read already this year. Are you a fast reader or do you spend a lot of time reading? I’ve only begun reading for fun again in the last few years (mostly college text books prior to that). This year I took on the book challenge with our local library – reading 1 book from each of the 50 categories on their list. I’m almost done and boy, I’ve definitely had to read at a faster pace than I’ve been accustomed to. It’s been fun but next year I’m going to devote to my teime to reading the books I’ve already purchased. Again, I’m impressed with how many books you’ve read. Awesome, job and thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks, Carol Ann, they do add up when I read two, three, or even four books in a week. Some weeks are better than others…lol.

I remember the years when I couldn’t read what I enjoyed, committed to textbooks and professional literature. It’s good to enjoy my reading again.

  2. What a comfy bedroom! It’s so cozy. I like to read in bed. I treat myself to that sometimes on the weekend. I’m mostly out in the dining area though reading blogs and knitting to Youtube podcasts or to an audiobook.

  3. Love the photo of your bedroom, it looks gorgeous enough to spend all day as well as night in there. You have sure aced the reading challenge. But isn’t is so hard to resist buying a book, and really I show no resistance!

    1. I am unable to resist! The most I can do is postpone…but eventually I end up buying. Unless I can find it as an e-ARC.

Thanks, Kathryn, I have spent time rearranging the bedroom, and turning it into my retreat. I’ve always loved doing that with my bedrooms over the years. Thanks for visiting.

  4. You are doing exceptionally well on your challenge! I read in my bedroom every night before I fall asleep and when I wake up as I have to lay in bed for 20 minutes before getting up. Sometimes that 20 mins ends up being an hour or so. Your room looks very cozy, no wonder you love to spend time there.
