AN UPCOMING CHANGE: MOVING WEEKLY UPDATES

June 3 office changes 3

Good morning!  Friday is here already, and it feels as though I blinked and the week flew by.

Here’s a little heads-up for those who visit my Weekly Updates.  This coming week, and for the foreseeable future, I will be returning to my Serendipity blog for that post.

I like to change this event around, just so readers can see my other blogs.

I’m on my third book this week, which is not as great as last week (with four books), but I’ve been loving all my books, and savoring this one, The Beauty of the End, by Debbie Howells.

I try to avoid the Amazon Vine page, since I don’t want to over stuff my stacks with review books, but today I found a book that I was going to buy anyway…so, of course I requested it.

Falling, by Jane Green, is  a novel about the pleasure and meaning of finding a home—and family—where you least expect them…

So now I’m curling up with my current read…and hoping to finish by day’s end.  Enjoy your weekend!

WEEKLY UPDATES: JULY IS HERE!

JULY WEEKLY UPDATES

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Wow, what a great week I had!  After my lackluster reading numbers in June, I felt as though I was off to a great start for July with my FOUR books read and reviewed this week.  Plus…the books were all amazing.  I read two of them in the last two days, which means that I was riveted to my reading spot.

After reading mostly review books this week, I was able to add one more to my Read the Books You Buy Challenge, which now totals 38 books.

It is still very hot, with triple digits again…and I’m happy that the AC is working.

I haven’t watched Netflix at all this week, but I hope to resume Orange Is the New Black again this weekend.  My grandson Noah will be here, glued to his X-box, which frees me up to do my thing…lol.  I added a new show to my list:  Marcella, which is all about a woman whose life is a train wreck…and she is in search of a killer.  Sounds good, right?  Grab some coffee, and let’s chat.

WEEKLY UPDATES: ENJOYING BEACH READS

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Wow, what a slow reading week I had!  But I savored my ONE book read (and reviewed it), so I guess it’s all good. I was swept along by the beach scenes in the novel, and felt as though I were there with the characters.  I could almost smell the sweet salt air.

Hot days here were my coming-back-to-reality moments, and I stayed inside except for brief outings to the shops.

Then came the fabulous e-mail with an Amazon credit, due to a settlement with Apple e-books.  Yay!  I’ll bet you can imagine my “click to buy” delight.

There was Netflix viewing, of course, and I finished Revenge, started Orange Is the New Black.-Season 4..and then stopped.  Taking a break, but I’ll get back to it soon.

But first, let’s savor each day, especially Coffee Mornings like this one, in my newly created dining space:

WEEKLY UPDATES: HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

PicMonkey CollageNEW JUNE LOGO

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Today’s temperature is in the 80s, but by Monday, we’ll be in the triple digits again.  Yikes!

It’s not as if we’re not used to it…it’s like this every year, and our long hot summers are a legend.

Reading has been better this week, with three books read and reviewed, and all of them were review books from NetGalley and Vine.  I spent too much time on my second book this week, so it’s a good thing that the other two were compelling page turners.

Bloggiesta has begun for today and tomorrow, but I’ve been working on my blog since Monday.  Yes, I tend to get impatient and start early.

I’m loving my Netflix shows, and I’m on Season III of Revenge.  I also plan to start watching Season IV of Orange Is the New Black.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there….and for everyone else, have a wonderful week!  Here’s some coffee to get us going today.

Happy holidays, for those who are celebrating.  The week has been lovely, allowing some time out on the patio to work on my laptop or read.  I read and reviewed THREE books this week, and brought my total to 35 for the Read the Books You Buy Challenge.

I’ll be reading some review books next week, so I’m excited to finally be able to enjoy some of my NetGalley ARCs, as well as a Vine book.

I started watching Season II of Bloodline last night…and plan to binge-watch some more today.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

The week started off great, with two fabulous reads.  Then I seemed to be stuck between two books that just didn’t grab me.  As I went back and forth between them, I feared that I would not find anything more to engage me this week.  After I tossed them aside (DNF), I picked up a review ARC from Amazon Vine, and started in.  I was a little hesitant, as it had 498 pages.  But I finished it…loved it!  It kept me thoroughly intrigued throughout.

Warm and then cooler weather followed us…and ended up being pretty perfect.  This weekend, I will run some errands…and hopefully see a movie.

Let’s grab some coffee and take a look at the rest of the week…

It has been a good week for reading, and today I’ve joined in for Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-Thon.  I started out fairly late this morning, around 7:30 a.m., and I’ve been going at it pretty steadily.  I’ve taken some breaks to blog and visit sites, have snacks, and even some dinner.  My original plan was to read two or three small books, but instead, I started on one with 454 pages…and kept going with it because I love it.  I should be finished soon.

I haven’t done a lot of movie watching this week, and nothing on Netflix.  Usually that’s a weekend thing, but now I’ve got the reading thing going on.  Here’s my reading with dinner.

WEEKLY UPDATES: BOOKS, MOVIES, & MEMORIES

PicMonkey Collage-resized logo

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

What a week!  I read and reviewed THREE books, but none of them counted for my Read the Books You Buy Challenge.  One was a “freebie” from Amazon Prime, while the other two were books purchased in 2014.  I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the books.  But since I purchased those books and was drawn to them at some point, should that surprise me?

Perhaps I should be stunned that I waited so long for them.

I finished watching American Odyssey, Season 1, on Netflix.  Now I’ll have to wait for another season!  I did also watch a couple of episodes of Lie to Me, but I am so annoyed by a couple of the characters (newbie staff members at the company), that I’m about ready to stop watching.  Do you ever find that when you are annoyed at characters, whether in a book, a movie, or a show, that you want to throw something?  Or am I the only immature creature here?  LOL.

I also watched a movie on my DVR that had me tearing up from the memories…it was an oldie, from the 1970s, and it had that Johnny Mathis song playing throughout:  “The last time I felt like this, I was falling in love….”.

The movie was Same Time, Next Year, with Ellen Burstyn and Alan Alda.

I hadn’t seen the movie in a few years, so it almost felt like the first time.  Do you ever have that reaction to old movies?  It reminded me of exactly what was going on in my own life when the movie first came out.  I must have listened to that song all through that momentous summer.  Enough said.  LOL.

Let’s toast, okay?  And chat about the past week in books and blogging….
