WEEKLY UPDATES: CURLING UP WITH BOOKS & NETFLIX

PicMonkey Collage-MAY

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

What a wonderful week it was!  It flew by…and every book I picked up seemed to keep me engaged.  I read and reviewed THREE books, and I’m halfway through the fourth one.  I now have 31 books completed for the Read the Books You Buy Challenge.  Last Sunday, I enjoyed brunch at the lake with my daughter and her fiance, along with my grandson Noah.  Here are Heather and Noah, with the lake as a backdrop.

  1. Wow, you’ve been reading some good books lately! Great job on the challenge too. I’m reading the new Taylor Jenkins Reid book for an upcoming blog tour. It’s good so far. Enjoy your weekend and the week ahead!

  2. I’m glad you had an enjoyable and productive week Laurel!

I’ve been seeing Two If By Sea around a bit. Originally I thought it was an old book and was remembering a movie of the same name, but realise now it’s new!

  3. That looks like a nice cozy Netlix arrangement! One of my favorite things to do lol. And nice pic at the lake, with the backdrop… very nice. Glad you had a nice week. I hope you enjoyed Clouds in my Coffee if you’ve already read it- I have it next up to read and can’t wait. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Greg, and I’m really enjoying my Netflix bingeing in the bedroom. I still like the Blu-Ray method in my living room.

I hope to read Clouds in My Coffee soon, as I really enjoyed the first two books.

What a wonderful Mother’s Day, Laurel-Rain! I am glad you were able to spend it with your family. I am also glad to hear you had a good week. 🙂 Mine was uneventful, which is good in its own way, I suppose. 🙂

I like the sound of I Almost Forgot About You and Clouds in my Coffee. I hope you enjoy them.

I had hoped to get in a little Netflix binge watching in on Friday, but it wasn’t meant to be.

    Have a great week, Laurel-Rain.

    1. Thanks, Wendy, I spent most of the day binge-watching on Netflix and finished both seasons of The Falls, which really was an addiction of its own.

Hope you have a great week….and I’m excited about my new books, too.

    1. I loved the Gilmore Girls….and Grace and Frankie. I have to find something new to obsess over. Thanks for stopping by, Lillian, and enjoy your week. I’m excited that something new is coming for the Gilmore Girls…an update.

  5. What a beautiful backdrop for brunch… always nice to see family, too. Hope you like Clouds in My Coffee. It was fun to get to visit with those characters again! The Other Typist was a favorite a few years ago, the audio version was especially well done. Hope you’re enjoying a Netflix binge today!

    1. Thanks, JoAnn…and while we don’t live next to a lake, like you must, we are half an hour from one, 45 minutes and then an hour from others. I used to be five minutes away from a lake.

I loved the characters in the Country Club Murders trilogy…can’t wait to start this one. I am enjoying The Other Typist, but I was surprised at the direction of the story.

Enjoy your week, and I have to do some errands this morning, but then…more Netflix and some reading.

    1. Thanks, Grace, our lakes are fuller this year after the rains we had, for which I’m grateful. I have enjoyed Kate Mulgrew in various shows, and most recently, Orange is the New Black.

Glad you could stop by, and enjoy your week.

  6. Oh it is so great to come across all books that you have loved reading. I am looking forward to your review of The Other Typist. I remember Elizabeth from Silver’s Reviews loving it. You have a few there that I have read so will be interested in how you view those too.

    1. I had planned to finish The Other Typist today, but I got started on Netflix again…and the time just slipped away. Enjoy your week, and I hope to love all the books I read…hope you do, too, Kathryn.

    1. Oh, yes, I have to watch several episodes, too, or it isn’t worth getting it set up…especially for my bedroom viewing which requires hooking up the laptop.

I am excited about Clouds in My Coffee…loved the first two books. Thanks for stopping by, Nise.

  7. The Other Typist has caught my eye and I’ll be waiting for your review. I have been binge watching myself this week, though not with Netflix but the CW. I had about four weeks worth to catch up on. Was strangely satisfying to do.

    1. Binge-watching is satisfying…it feels like turning oneself over to the addiction…lol. I am enjoying The Other Typist, but it’s going slowly for me…probably because I keep stopping to binge-watch things. Thanks for stopping by, Emma, and have a great week.

    1. Thanks, Mareli, and I am enjoying The Other Typist…but I keep getting distracted by the shows I’m watching. The perils of trying to read something on the weekends! Enjoy your week!

    1. My all-time favorites of McMillan’s were Waiting to Exhale and How Stella Got Her Groove Back. So I’m ready to immerse myself in this one…probably next week.

Thanks for stopping by, Kathy, and have a great week…..

  8. I had a good time at BEA & blogged about it. I think I saw the Terry McMillan book there — so I’d be curious to hear what you think of it when you get to it. Two days after I got home though, I got a bad cold, ugh. My penance now, sigh.

    1. I’m glad you had a good time, Susan…I do love bookish events, but I probably won’t go until it gets closer to the West Coast.

I enjoy Terry McMillan, so I’m eager to dive into this one.
