WEEKLY UPDATES: HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

PicMonkey Collage-MAY

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

The week flew by, but I enjoyed my books; I also did some binge-watching of Happy Valley and The Newsroom on Netflix and Amazon Video.  I am also watching Grace and Frankie, now that Season II is out.

To celebrate my weekend, I’ve rearranged some things in my bedroom so I can watch there via my TV/Laptop hook-up (HDMI cable).  I watch via the Blu-Ray in my living room.

I only finished reading and reviewing two books, but they were both really good.  I’m halfway through the third book.

I got an early Mother’s Day delivery today…a balloon, a bear, and these gorgeous edible treats:

  1. Happy Mothers Day! Nice that you got your stuff early… enjoy! I liked your pictures, especially the one with the seal on the beach. I’ll bet the dog was having a blast! 🙂

Nice review of Don’t You Cry, I didn’t realize a Michigan harbor town was part of the setting. I know some of those harbor towns on the west coast of Michigan fill up with Chicago area people every weekend during the summer- they’re very popular! So neat connection there! I always like it when a Michigan connection shows up. 🙂 Sounds like it has some creepy elements and a tense read. Glad it was good.

    1. Thanks, Greg….before I realized just where in Michigan the other part of the story was set, I Googled a map and tried to sort it out. But then I saw in the blurb that it was a harbor town in Michigan, an hour from Chicago. Duh!

I do love knowing where a book is set…and I love when I’m familiar with the setting.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. I’ve always enjoyed Lisa Unger’s books, Deborah, so I am excited about Ink and Bone…and I’ve been eyeing I Let You Go for a while, so it’s good news that you loved it. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thanks, Mary, and happy Mother’s Day to you, too. I have only had one of those strawberries so far…they are very rich. I will have to take them in small doses…lol.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting.

    Happy Mother’s Day!

We’ve enjoyed Newsroom. I think we may not be caught up, now that I think about it, but my husband and I liked what we did see of it. Those chocolate covered strawberries look yummy! Your new books sound like they will be good. I’m really curious about the new Lippman novel.

I hope you have a great week, Laurel-Rain!

    1. Thanks, Wendy, and Happy Mother’s Day to you, too.

I’ve now finished three seasons on The Newsroom…I imagine there are more, but that’s all I found on Amazon Video. I guess I’ll search On Demand, to see if more are there…as I’m not satisfied with the ending!

I had one strawberry so far…very rich! Maybe I can have one a day…lol.

I love Lippman’s books…eager to read it. Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, JoAnn…I plan to eat only ONE of those strawberries per day. They are huge, so one should do the trick.

I hope to read Lucy Barton next….thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your week.

  3. I have Ink and Bone, All the Missing Girls, and What We Find also and can’t wait to read them!
I love your Mother’s Day presents, how thoughtful! Only my younger daughter has touched base with me because she lives with me and the other 2 live on their own, but I’m hoping for a call or email, or I will guilt them, lol! Mothers are good at that 🙂 My daughter is going to take me to Target to redo my new bathroom with new shower curtain, guest towels, soap dispenser, etc. Fun trip I look forward to.
Have a wonderful day and from the looks of your books, you will be having a good reading week ahead.
(I’m not yet in my new home, later this month, but I am in my new blog home now)

    1. Oh, I am off to check out your new blog, Rita…and have fun in your new home. It’s fun to redo the rooms in a new place…enjoy! And I am really looking forward to my suspenseful thrillers from NetGalley.

Three of my kids have touched base…the eldest, living in Europe, usually forgets our holidays, as he has been over there for so many years.

  4. I also did some reading and movie watching this week. It’s nice when you can fit in both in the same week.

Those chocolate covered strawberries you got look really good! I hope they taste just as well as they look. I hope you’ll enjoy your new books and have a great week!

  5. My son sent me strawberries like that last year. So much YUM! I need to do something with our bedroom, but I’m strapped by lack of cash. We want to build our bed and some shelves as well as paint, but it’ll have to wait. Once we finish our Exterior Library then we can do something with our bedroom. lol

  6. Sounds like a good Mother’s Day there. How do you like The Newsroom show? I’ve been wanting to try that out. The Elizabeth Strout book is a bit different, a quiet read. Enjoy your week.

  7. A really great book haul – am I right in thinking ‘Ink and Bone’ is a murder thriller with a paranormal thread running through it? I’ll be interested to see how creepy it is… Enjoy the rest of the chocolate covered strawberries and have a good week.

Sometimes quality is better than quantity when reading books. I got caught up and a little ahead on reviews and now enjoying some books from my TBR. I binge watched the Captain America movies and the Avenger movies with my son this week. They are so much better than I was expecting. Especially the Captain America movies. Happy Mother’s Day!

    1. Oh, how sweet of you, Nise…there is nothing better, IMO, than binge-watching shows that go on and on…until they’re over.

I haven’t yet watched Downton Abby…but what a great idea!

I hope to read Lucy Barton next. Thanks for stopping by….and have a great week.

  9. Yummy mother’s day gift and looks gorgeous too. Hmm I have seen a few reviews that have made me interested in The Blue Bath. I so loved The Newsroom, I didn’t always pick up what they said because they spoke so fast to my ear!!

    1. Oh, yes, they did speak very rapidly on The Newsroom…I put captions up to help with that…and with accents, too. LOL. But sometimes the captions go by pretty quickly, too.

Thanks for visiting, Kathryn, and for hosting…I had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend. Enjoy your week!
